Log Additional Data

Hi. I know how to query for additional data from GPS, like speed, and altitude, but if I want to store it in the same stream, is it just a matter of an additional streamer.log line, with a name of "Speed" and the value? That will add a new row to the source?

I saw some examples where the source in Initial State was more CSV style, so header on top, then data below. Does that format still exist? Or is it one data point per entry?

Battery autonomy and charging with car battery ?

Hello,

What is the battery autonomy for this project ?

Can we charge the battery with the car battery, when the car is turned on ?

And auto shutdown when low battery / auto start when car is On ?

Thanks

Purpose of checkForFix()

What is the purpose of checkForFix()? Can't the same process be incorporated into the getCoord() function?

InitialState Tile Views

Thanks for continuing to indulge in my questions/comments...

Thanks for the GSM input What I am trying to do is make a demo unit that will compare 3 locations (GPS on Fona, GSM on Fona, and GPS from independent GPS chip). I then want to stream all the data to InitialState and compare on 3 separate map tiles.

Question 1 - Can InitialState handle three different sets of coordinates in one bucket, and show in 3 different map tiles?
Question 2 - Can IntiailState handle speed and elevation in the same streamer feed?

Connection issues after power down

Hi there, I'm having issues with the application. The initial setup works perfectly, it tracks the location and uploads it to initial state. However, when I shut the system down and unplug the power cables, once I try to bring it back online it will not work.

All it does is flash the red light repeatedly and shows nothing in the terminal.

Any advice?

Step 6 URL

First off, holy cow - thank you! There's no way an advanced beginner could do this in 40 minutes, but even if it took 2 hours it'd be OK. This took some serious effort and a lot of attention went into really laying it out well.

I did notice that a link is broken on this page (see screenshot here)

Raspberry Pi 3 with 3G or 4G sim

Would this work on a Raspberry Pi 3 with either a 3G or 4G sim card? If so, do I follow the same exact instructions? I appreciate your help.

Start Tracking Automatically

Hi.

Wondering if its possibile to add a section on how to start this automatically. Otherwise you'll need to boot it up with a screen, start the script, then put it in a box.

Also, is there a way to store GPS data locally and then upload once a cellular connection is established?

Thanks

GSM Location

thanks for fielding all my questions. I'm sure they might seem dumb at times. I'm just learning.

Given his wiki, would it be possible to also source a GSM location, either in parallel to compare, or as alternative to no GPS location? The FONA supports this. Not sure where to find some Python code to get at that data.
