swtor-app's Introduction

SWTOR.app

Star Wars: The Old Republic app for macOS, working out of the box.

How to install?

  1. Download SWTOR.dmg from the latest release
  2. Open it
  3. Move SWTOR.app to /Applications folder
  4. Run like any other app

FAQ:

I see a weird message for a second during first time running the app, what should I do?

The Wine configuration in /Applications/SWTOR.app/Contents/Resources/prefix is being updated, please wait...

Please ignore this message, this is popping only during first boot and should not appear any further. It's a side effect of the way the application is built and have no negative effects. In theory it could be avoided by running application once before packaging it and providing to you, but that could resoult in even different side effects, so it was left alone.

Just after launching the first time the launcher updates itself several times, is that normal?

Yes, the launcher that is downloadable is known to be quite old and with every new installation it will go into update-restart cycle for several times. This should be a one-time case, and in future it will update only when needed.

After logging in I see "PLAY" button active, but I cannot press it

Please wait a moment - for some reason it takes couple seconds for launcher to figure out that it need to download full game (or future update), it should start updating automatically soon.

Application is not starting/application crashed

Please create an issue and provide your Mac model, macOS version, and content of ~/Library/Logs/SWTOR.log file.

After pressing "play" it takes ages to load game for the first time

This might be the result of SWTOR enabling ultra quality and the highest possible resolution. It might take a while, but as long as you can see spinner it will finally load. You can also press CMD+TAB to minimize the application, and wait couple minutes while doing something else - it will keep loading in the background, and the next time you will bring it back to front it should load correctly. After adjusting graphic settings it should boot pretty much instantly the next time.

How to build it by myself?

  1. Make sure that you have homebrew installed
  2. Check that you don't have any other Wine version installed (we're using wine-crossover)
  3. Run ./build.sh to create Wine Prefix in prefix folder
  4. Run ./package.sh to create SWTOR.app and package it
  5. You can find package in dist folder

Acknowledgment

This app would not be possible without excellend script written by AgentRG, as well as pre-compiled Crossover Wine provided by Gcenx.

swtor-app's Issues

after launcher updates, game won't launch

This is the 2nd time this has happened where the launcher updates, times out, and then the launcher will not launch when the application is started. Reinstalling fixes it, I did that the first time and am about to for the 2nd time. However, the installation time takes several hours and I would like to avoid it in the future if possible.

Host_WindowLoadTimeout error

The launcher loaded and went through several update cycles and then I am getting this Host_WindowLoadTimeout error.

I have read that this is due to wine updates or something, however reading your landing page does not mention it so thought that this would work. Definitely got further than anything else having the launcher come up and enter the update cycle.

issues on monterey laptop

I have a MacBook Pro running Monterey 12.5 with these stats:

Processor: 2.6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7
Memory: 16 GB 2400 MHz DDR4
Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB
USB mouse & Keyboard

I had some trouble getting this to work. The installer ran, but the game itself wouldn't respond to mouse clicks or my keyboard, and it launched in a tiny corner of the display.

Eventually I figured it out, and I wanted to share my steps. Here's how I did it.

  • I created an exception for /Applications/SWTOR.app in my antivirus app.
  • I ran this command to configure wine:

/Applications/SWTOR.app/Contents/Resources/wine/bin/winecfg

  • When the "Wine configuration" window opened, under the Applications tab, I changed the "Windows Version" selection from "Windows 7" to "Windows 10".

  • Under the Graphics tab, I enabled "Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen windows" and I increased the screen resolution slider to 144 dpi.

  • Then I clicked the OK button.

  • In the terminal, I noticed a lot of errors like this:

0094:err:plugplay:process_IOService_Device Unable to create plug in interface for USB deviceobject 0x441b

  • I went into "System Preferences", clicked on "Security & Privacy", clicked on the Privacy tab and clicked on "Developer Tools". There, I clicked on "Terminal.app".

(Note: I still get the USB errors in the terminal when I run winecfg, but my mouse and keyboard work now.)

Unable to retrieve patch data

I am using a MacBook Pro with M1 Pro on macOS Ventura. I am able to sign in, but when I get to the launcher page, the play button remains inactive and in the bottom left corner I get the message: "Unable to retrieve patch data. Please check network connection. (208)" and when I exit the application it says: "You are currently patching. Are you sure you want to exit the SWTOR Launcher?" My mac is connected to wifi so I tried disconnecting and reconnecting, but I am still getting this message. How do I fix it?

Error 310

I got an error 310 always when it come to 14,25GB.
In the logs : ERROR Download ReliableSourceBadIntegrity: Reliable source serving corrupt data (e102)
Tried everything on internet, two days of debuging and nothing works.
FlushDNS, modify the launcher.setting, remove .version, delete folder or file etc..

PS : before getting the 310 error, I got the infinite launcher update, the infinite loop login, have to restart launcher 3 to 5 time to login or finish the damn launcher update, and after that you start downloading the game until the 310 at 14,25GB.. everything is wrong.

LAG

the launcher loads, but waits a while to do so. it still says its updating sometimes, but the real issue is the lag. It lags to even type in username and password. when trying to "log in" Ive waited up to 10 minutes for it to finish loading (the loading symbol is also lagged) and have tried multiple times incase it just needed to sit for a while.
