drivers_y1-nozzle's Issues

Methods for configuring drivers

I saw #1 fly by, luckily I read the description instead of the title. I think using YAML as a configuration file format is not a great idea. You can use plain Python in much the same capacity:

def read_py_config(filename):
    with open(filename) as inf:
        file_contents = inf.read()

    config_dict = {}
    exec(compile(file_contents, filename, "exec"), config_dict)
    return config_dict

IMO, this is much more versatile because

  • you can import stuff (including from other config files!)
  • If you stick your configuration data into a class, you can use inheritance to override selectively without having to copy the whole thing.

Add illinois-ceesd/experiments/y1-nozzle for this repo?

It might be nice if we could arrange our repos such that we can more easily automate things like timings, as well as form reliable driver-independent instructions so that developers can pick up the drivers and use them to develop stuff like lazy eval.

This current repo has a nice internal structure. Can we make this repo the template on how drivers should be arranged (specific to CEESD official drivers), and then add this current driver as the first example? Something like illinois-ceesd/experiments/y1/nozzle or i-c/exp/y1-nozzle?
