Looking at it again, I think what really needs to happen is that triggers are implemented as a component that wraps the DURATION type.

It turns out I don't need this anymore though, so it's probably not that important..

The extra parameters should be available via the ical_params method on the property value.

Version 2.0 is currently underway and will provide a nicer abstraction for the various data types for all properties, so it should be easier and more obvious in how to access them.

@rahearn
How can I make an absolute date-time value through ical_params?
For example, this code gives me unnecessary strings.

event.alarm do |a|
  a.action = 'DISPLAY'
  a.trigger = ''
  a.trigger.ical_params = { 'VALUE' => 'DATE-TIME:19980101T050000Z' }
end

Result:

TRIGGER;VALUE="DATE-TIME:19980101T050000Z":P

Hi @rikuson, this should do it for you:

event.alarm do |a|
  a.action = 'DISPLAY'
  a.trigger = Icalendar::Values::DateTime.new("19980101T050000Z")
end

Thank you.
