The mount point specified must be created before being mounted and is expected. However, when volume is unmounted, the mount point is automatically deleted. (Perhaps a sshfs bug??) Anyway, the mount point should be checked to see if it exists and attempt to create it if needed.

By adding the 'local' option to the preferences as shown below, the volume will appear in the Finder sidebar and can be unmounted from there.
