pollination's Issues

Where to get started?

Hello Pollination team, Hope you are fine.

After Hackathon there has been so many requests to get this project connected to current Honeybee workflows. I'm thinking to devote some time in the coming months to this project and integrate pollination project to Honeybee so more people can use this amazing development.

I have some ideas on how to integrate it to the project and some questions which I wanted to share with you here so I can have your thoughts.

  1. Where should I get started? Do you have some documentation, screencast, etc, that shows how can I get started?
  2. Currently the workflow needs to have Rhino/Grasshopper installed on the AWS machines. It can bring so many issues with itself. I'm thinking to modify the workflow to be based on executing the batch files so we only need simulation tools (EP, OS, Radiance) to be installed. @andrewheumann I know that the workflow was based on some of your development. How do you feel about this change? Does it make sense to you?
  3. Once number 2 is applied then why should we use Windows machines? I think we will gain so much by moving to UNIX systems. For Radiance the benefits are obvious for the rest I'm not sure how much it will make a difference. The only issue that I can see here is that Daysim only works on Windows but I think we can replace daysim with radiance gendaymtx and integrate some post processing for schedules so it will be fine. @nllong what is your comments on this?
  4. Go back to 1

Let's get this started again!
