Website Security Checker with Iframe

Overview

This repository contains a simple web application for checking the security of a website using iframes. The application allows users to input a website URL and displays the website inside an iframe. Additionally, it provides features to interact with the iframe content and observe security-related events.

Getting Started

  1. Clone the repository:

    git clone https://github.com/highnitin/iframeSecurityCheck.git
  2. Open the index.html file in a web browser or deploy the application to a web server.

  3. Enter a website URL in the input box and click the "Check" button.

Features

  1. Website Checking: Input a website URL and render it inside an iframe.

  2. Logging Events: Log events like hovering over the iframe and input changes inside the iframe to the console.

How it Works

The application utilizes HTML, CSS (Tailwind CSS), and JavaScript. The key functionalities include:

  1. Rendering Website: The entered website URL is set as the src attribute of an iframe, displaying the website within the application.

  2. Logging Events: Various events, such as hovering over the iframe and input changes inside the iframe, are captured and logged to the console using JavaScript.

  3. Security Considerations: Security features are considered, and communication with the iframe content is done using secure methods such as the postMessage API.

Security Considerations

When working with iframes and external content, it's crucial to consider security implications. Ensure that:

  1. The source of the iframe content is trustworthy to prevent potential security risks.
  2. Cross-origin restrictions and security policies are respected.
  3. User interactions are handled securely, and sensitive information is not exposed.
