portable-game-station's Issues

image path name change when adding roms in favorite

Hey HerbFargus,

I've run across an issue I can't quite figure out how to fix. I can get everything running correctly but when I add roms to favorite, the gamelist.xml file changes the path of the location. I'll edit with notepad++ to correct file path to the downloaded_images folder but as soon as I add/remove roms from favorite it changes it again. It sometimes will rename it to something like ~/emulationstation/downloaded_images/snes/2020 Super Baseball (U)-image.jpg
with missing "." before ~/emulationstation or change it to something like
/wnloaded_images/snes/2020 Super Baseball (U)-image.jpg
do you know of a fix to this? Thanks in advance

Input Config missing buttons

I'm only able to map the d-pad, a, b, start, and select and page up and down using either a keyboard or xinput device. I've tried deleting the es_input.cfg but when I do, those are the only buttons I'm prompted to map.

scrapper not working....

hello, i havent been able to use the scrapper from emulationstation at all, it doesnt find any match with any game with the two scrappers servers that it has. with portable station 1.5.7 i have tried with only that and the last version of retroarch and also tried replacing the files of emulationstation with the last version of it...

any help with this?

ROMs aren't being scanned

I placed my ROMs in the required folder. But when Pegasus runs, I get an error that ROMs cannot be found.

Do I have to edit some configuration file to get this to work? It was much more easier in the previous version of PGS.

Sound Problems

I have downloaded the Portable Game Station. Gameplay works like a charm but I have one problem I really can't figure out. My Sound is not working. No game and no emulator gives me any peep. I tried "Toggle Mute" in the retroarch settings. Any ideas?
Thanks

PPSSPP_libretro.dll

hello this is not an issue only a help request please,
i noticed the file ppsspp_libretro.dll from retroarch is very old (from 2015)
however PPSSPP for windows latest version 1.3 is from 2016 (17/09/2016 about half year old)
do you know where i can find the updated version of the dll for use with retroarch please?
thanks

jrassa Build of emulationstation's forward slashes not working with fbalpha_libretro.dll

Hello everyone, Im not really sure where to report this issue, maybe with some luck @jrassa will see it here.

This is all tested in windows 10 64bits and retroarch 1.7.1
as the title says, Portable Game Station with the emulationstation from march 12 https://github.com/jrassa/EmulationStation/releases is not working because even if the label have backward slashes, the lauch command writhes the path with forward slashes.
fbalpha_libretro.dll its the only core that is failing in my testing so far because of the slashes

this works:
C:\Portable-Game-Station.emulationstation\systems\retroarch\retroarch.exe -L C:\Portable-Game-Station.emulationstation\systems\retroarch\cores\fbalpha_libretro.dll M:\fba\mslug.zip

this does not work:
C:\Portable-Game-Station.emulationstation\systems\retroarch\retroarch.exe -L C:\Portable-Game-Station.emulationstation\systems\retroarch\cores\fbalpha_libretro.dll M:/fba/mslug.zip

I've tested nes, snes, atari, gb, gbc, mastersystem, megadrive, nds, n64 and those cores are working correctly with the forward slashes that emulationstation/Portable-Game-Station are forcing

Update:
For what I could find, its "%ROM_RAW%" not working correctly, in a post from 2015, ROM_RAW behaviour was changed to be able to write the slashes correctly according to the O.S. because VLC asked for this, but seems to be broken in this last version of emulationstation
https://emulationstation.org/news/?p=17

maybe something was changed in the emulationstation code because now all of the paths that show on the log have forward slashes an none have the O.S. backward slashes..
Also I have found that fbalpha_lobretro care only about the last slahs, the one just begore the rom name

this works:
C:\Portable-Game-Station>.emulationstation\systems\retroarch\retroarch.exe -L C:\Portable-Game-Station.emulationstation\systems\retroarch\cores\fbalpha_libretro.dll M:/fba\mslug.zip

this does not works:
C:\Portable-Game-Station>.emulationstation\systems\retroarch\retroarch.exe -L C:\Portable-Game-Station.emulationstation\systems\retroarch\cores\fbalpha_libretro.dll M:/fba/mslug.zip

Thanks in advance
best regards

Emulation Station not starting

Hello,

I tried installing the Emulation Station on my 64GB Sandisk USB Drive with this package (version 1.5.7):

https://github.com/HerbFargus/Portable-Game-Station/releases

After the first start there were two dll's missing: msvcp140.dll and vcruntime140.dll. I downloaded the 64bit versions of the dll's and copied them into the Emulation Station directory. I still received the "missing dll error". After replacing the 64bit version with the 32bit version the error was gone. But Emulation Station is still not starting. I get the following screen:

emulationstation_error

After that I installed the updated Emulation Station:

https://github.com/jrassa/EmulationStation/releases/

Same problem. Even after installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 and 2015 Redistributable the problem persists.

I'm using a HP Compaq 7900 with Windows 10 64bit and an Intel Core Duo @3ghz and 5GB RAM. But I have the same problem on my Dell Latitude with Windows 7.

What can I do? I'm frustrated. It all looked so easy here: https://youtu.be/hPcMlL-_jo8

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,
Martin

PCSX2 Not loading from EmulationStation

I have run into an issue where PS2 games will not load using the PCSX2 system. I have tried several different versions (1.4, and several different 1.5 daily builds) and it will not run the games from ES. The program opens and I get a black screen like I am missing BIOS, but they are there. The BIOS path in PCSX2 is set to the ..emulationstation\bios folder and working fine without ES. I have setup PCSX2 manually and able to play the games without going through ES, I have even checked es_systems.cfg and ran the command that EmulationStation passes to PCSX2 and it works fine from command line, just not from within ES.

Am I missing something? Is there something else that ES is passing to cause problems?

Thanks
C

Is there a config file to edit to do this ?

Thanks for your answer.
