amigo

Command Line Interface for Spanish translation and verb conjugation.

Installation

Clone this repo.

git clone https://github.com/hecris/amigo.git
cd amigo

Set up virtual environment. (this may vary)

python3 -m virtualenv env
. env/bin/activate

Install dependencies

pip install git+https://github.com/BoseCorp/py-googletrans.git
pip install --editable .

You're ready to start using amigo

Usage

Translate: amigo tran <text>
Conjugate: amigo conj <verb> <n>
Quiz Me: amigo quiz "word1, word2, word3" # words are separated using commas

Implement a translation feature:

command: amigo translate <query>
gets translation from spanishdict.com/translate/(query)
supports words AND phrases

Don't forget to update 'Usage' in README.

Implement a testme feature

command: amigo testme --english --spanish
this will return a phrase in either english or spanish. the user will be prompted to translate the phrase. if they get it right, congratulate them!

amigo currently uses the following package: https://github.com/BoseCorp/py-googletrans
It is a fork that fixes a bug in the original py-googletrans.
Submit a PR that updates setup.py accordingly.
Your pull request should merge your branch with hecris:translate_feature branch

Add color to translate feature

Change the translate function in amigo.py to echo the result in the color yellow

update dependencies

update requests library to newest version

Update README.md

amigo now has a translate feature. Update README accordingly:

make new gif in screenshots/ folder
add it to README.md
update Usage section

Add requirements.txt

Be careful NOT to simply put 'py-googletrans' in the requirements.txt file. amigo uses a forked version of py-googletrans that can be found here: https://github.com/BoseCorp/py-googletrans.git.
So, add requirements.txt accordingly.

Add installation script

Create and add a script that installs amigo for the user.
