fusion360image2surface's Issues

Image2Surface only works one time!

Thank you for Image2Surface, it's just what I need.
It worked one time, even though I just dragged an image from Photos onto it, which was likely too many pixels. Fusion got very busy, but after 40 mins it finished, and there was the surface!
I then converted it to Tsplines so I could 3D print it, and that too took a while, but afterward Fusion became unresponsive so that I could not move my view, didn't see the resulting converted surface.
So I figured I'd do it again with smaller demands on it, but I cannot run Image2Surface anymore. The controlling dialog just comes up empty. I tried restarting Fusion, then restarting my Mac, no luck.
When I quit Fusion I got an error message, attached.
Any ideas what to try next to get things working again?

Javascripted Add-Ins no longer supported in Fusion 360

Will this add-in be updated to work with the latest Fusion 360 release?
Latest announcement indicates add-ins should be written in Python or C++ (JavaScript no longer supported)

Sorry, didn't see the previous ticket re:JavaScript. (Thou I did look at the package and noticed all the JS stuff)
However I'm experiencing issues with the the add-in within the UI. Script runs but then the drop-downs in the UI top menus stop working, and in the project space the feature menus toggle on/off. (click any where...)

I originally thought these behaviors were contributed to the JS announcements.

Javascript

Javascript is no longer supported in Fusion 360 :/

Image2Surface not opening small image

It seems my Image2Surface stopped working.
I am using it only now and then, however, it always worked fine until now.
I removed the previous installation, downloaded the latest from Github, reinstalled it and it opens up and seems to be working well in the Fusion 360 environment. I created a base feature (history-free). even after this it does not open even a 180 x 200 .jpg file. I tried also to convert it to .BMP, .TIF etc. but it is not working.
When I drag the file it does not allow the action, (the arrow change into a crossed out 0). When I select the file, it accepts it, and show the file name and size, but it does not open it.

How to take a Image2Surface Surface and put it on the face of an existing model in Fusion

We got Image2surface working and created a surface in fusion, however, we are stuck with how to then combine that onto an existing model. Given that the utility is here I thought we'd ask here even though it's more Fusion HELP than the utility !!

We have a model that we designed and want to cut on our router table in wood, the designer would like a "hand carved" look to the finish when the design is cut. We have used Image2surface to create a surface that looks like it's hand carved, however, we are not able to find a good way to use this surface to replace/merge with a face in our model.

Just to be clear we're not looking for rendering/appearance assistance, we need a 3D surface on the finished model so it will go through CAM and produce the 3D profile to cut

Generating triangle meshes, not quad

I'm wondering if something happened with an updated version of Fusion breaking your script or if it has something to do with the type of image I am trying to mesh.

When I use the script to generate my mesh (from a thin "lightning bolt"), the script creates a triangle mesh.
When I attempt to Convert Quad Mesh to T-SPline, it fails citing that my mesh is not a quad mesh: "Warning: Mesh to T-Spline conversion aborted."

This happens with both a tiny 2500 polygon mesh and the larger one that threw the attached error message.

Non issue

They really need a way to delete these !

Generate Surface Error: Failed

I'm getting the following error when clicking on Generate Surface:

Failed:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "C:/Users/Me/AppData/Roaming/Autodesk/Autodesk Fusion 360/API/AddIns/Image2Surface/Image2Surface.py", line 143, in notify

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
RuntimeError: 3 : BaseFeature is not supported in direct modeling environment

My image dimensions are 256x256 and the surface dimensions are 128.00 x 128.00 mms.

Not sure what is causing this problem but I can't seem to generate a surface.

Error in installation instructions

The instructions say to name the folder "Fusion360Image2Surface." Fusion add in instructions say the folder name must match the name of the python file. The python file is "Image2Surface."

Fusion did not recognize the plug in at first, but it seems to be working after I changed the name

can't drag drop file, and no file open button

every time I leave fusion to go to finder (on a mac) to drag a file, the window disappears. It's only open when fusion is active, so the add-in is effectively useless. Pls add the file-open button.

How do I install this?

I've been trying to get image2surface to interface with Fusion. I can get it to acknowledge that there is a new addin running, but that is it. I've followed the guide attached exactly, and I've tried other methods as well. Nothing works. Help!

Max Height Limit

I love this add in a ton and what I'd love to do is have a max height higher than 25mm. Is this possible to implement?

Loaded image not centered in view

When an image is loaded into the add-in, the surface shown isn't centered within the view. It may even be outside the visible bounds of the view. Correct code to display surface centered in view.
