code-of-conduct's Issues

make more concise

@evaz can you take a stab at this?

Criticism:
It's probably worth reading over and considering whether any part can be done inline to be generally more simple English. But for definitions, footnotes are definitely fine. Since it's in markdown, you can link them nicely anyway.

If you have any footnotes you want to add in making it more concise, feel free. Otherwise going to make separate issue for footnotes,

Document process for changing CoC

There should be a documented process for modifying the code of conduct - ideally soliciting community feedback before merging the changes and/or requiring admins to publicly sign off on changes.

Add a table of contents

A few links to the different sections would be useful and show readers what's in the document at a glance.

SFW-content only

Similar to #44, I feel as if we should make it incredibly explicit under "Da Rules" that content in HH should not be "not safe for work."

Something like:

  • Safe-for-work content only. Hackathon Hackers is a student and professional community. The line between SFW and NSFW content is different for different workplaces and work cultures, but if browsing certain content on Hackathon Hackers at work could get a member fired, it should not be in Hackathon Hackers.

This would prevent a lot of quibbling over edge cases.

footnotes

there are a lot of terms people may not be familiar with here. need footnotes.

Broken link for reporting form

The following text in the CoC:

We also have a confidential form if you would rather your incident not be tied to your identity.

includes a hyperlink to the hh.gd domain which does not resolve in DNS.

License

The code-of-conduct isn't provided under any sort of license, which makes it difficult for other organizations and initiatives to use.

May I suggest putting it in the public domain or under one of the Creative Commons licenses?
