Size legend

How does the size_legend work?

If I want to make a super simple one that doesn't have particularly fancy scaling or anything, what should the range of the scale be here? I don't think this is right!

function addSizeLegend() {
    legend_size
        .visible(true)
        .update();

    let max_radius = max(data.data, d=> parseFloat(getSizeValue(d.value)))

	const scale = scaleSqrt()
		.domain([0, max_radius])
		.range([0, max_radius]);

    legend_size
        .scale(scale)
        .update();
}
