is it possible to use this app in Acrobat reader and PDF Expert. I usually use PDF Expert for reading PDFs. Is it possible use the Excerptor with it?

In macOS 10.12, when any text is selected in Preview app or Skim app, there will be no contextual text services available (including Excerptor's Excerptor: Excerpt Selection To Pasteboard and Excerptor: Excerpt Selection To File).

This is probably introduced by macOS 10.12's new PDFKit framework.

With the new update of Devonthink to its version 3 the links created previously do not work requesting that Devonthink 2 be installed.
Will there be an exception update?

many thanks for the app. It's doing a great job. As I see it from my point of view it complements what ZotFile for Zotero is doing. Especially useful is the option to extract all annotations using the macOS service menu and then saves every single highlight and note in a separate markup file.

Only it throws an error. Once I found out what it exactly is I'll let you know.

I have used excerptor before when I tried it to make sure that I had installed it correctly, and it worked fine. Now however I am seeing the error message mentioned above. Could you help me out?

This is a feature request to add an option that creates a new note in DevonThink with the excerpt and other specified parameters (e.g., creator, link to original document).

Right now, my workflow is to select text in the PDF, right click and select the excerptor service, copying text to the clipboard, then going into DevonThink and creating a new note with the text (or using the DevonThink note shortcut to create a new note and pasting the clip into the note body). It would be great to eliminate the manual steps of creating a note and pasting the excerpt.

Normal behaviour: Excerptor opens page 12 of the PDF book, correct?
But that didn't happen. The link only opens the book, but not the page.

In the screenshot you see the configuration of Excerptor. I'm on Mojave 10.14.1 and use the latest Skim and DevonthinkPro version.

Hi, I am testing the Excerptor 1.1.1 in Preview on 10.11.6, following the gif example. The excerptor throws the error "Could not get selection/animation information", and system also reports "The “Excerptor: Excerpt Selection To Pasteboard” service could not be used because the application did not respond to a request for services.". Please help. Thanks.

Because of #8, I changed these two text services to general services on macOS 10.12, which cause this issue.

Hi all,
on macOS 10.13 Preview crashes when linking from a md file.

That means, the excerptor feature that creates single md files is opened. It contains a Zotero link. Before macOS 10.13 clicking on that link led directly to the respective annotation in the pdf. Now it crashes.

Nota bene: Skim is suffering from a PDF rendering issue since macOS 10.13 leading to the opened PDF mirrored. Skim development mentions that since Skim uses the Preview PDF rendering feature it can do little to fix it.

Hope you can fix this.

I tried to use this great tool for the first time but after all the installation steps it didn't work!
I thought that I had made something wrong... But then I noticed that apps like Skim or Preview missing the contextual "Services" menu!
Considering the recent problems with the PDFKit on macOS sierra, is this the reason for the missing contextual Services menu on the pdf files and the Excerptor fail?
I select some text in pdf file, right-click and no "services" item available.

Anu ideia?
