The text bounds are suspicious, because this would give a width and height of 0 (right - left = 0, bottom - top = 0):
bounds: TextBounds {
left: 1000,
top: 1000,
right: 1000,
bottom: 1000,
},
You could try copying the example (e.g. bounds are specified here https://github.com/grovesNL/glyphon/blob/main/examples/hello-world.rs#L109-L114) or using different bounds to see if that helps.
I'd also double check your buffer
size to make sure that's reasonable too.

it works now!
turns out I was setting the buffer size to the initial window size (which is small), but never updated it when a resize occurred, so just adding a buffer.set_size()
when the window gets resized (also using a reasonable textbound) fixed the issue :)
