The current format restricts and demands the specification of variables that are extraneous to some experiments and unknown for others. We should adopt a more general format. I am writing up a way of doing that now, but it's roughly:

Tab-delimited file, one column is "SampleName", subsequent columns are "Variable1", "Variable2", etc. The values in the variable columns are in a key_value format, so "hours_488" or "dye_acridineOrange" or "estradiol_5nM", this allows us to specify what the variable is later for plotting, but keeps it clean and general. We don't use wells because the Aria doesn't use wells.

I am developing this now. I expect people to interface with this format by editing it with a spreadsheet GUI editor. I'd prefer CSV, but tab-delim works to.
