Support retention policies so that logs older than X (hours, days, weeks) old are deleted. Be sure to use an index and delete at most two records for every one added.

It would be nice to have structured fields for:

• integer1, integer2, integer3
  • BigIntegerField(blank=True, null=True)
• datetime1, datetime2, datetime3
  • DateTimeField(blank=True, null=True)
• text1, text2, text3
  • TextField(blank=True, null=True)
• user1, user2, user3
  • ForeignKey(settings.AUTH_USER_MODEL, blank=True, null=True, on_delete=models.SET_NULL)

Maybe a custom formatter can fill these extra fields on the model?

Document how to add an index to the Record model.

How to buffer log messages in memory? It would be interesting to flush log messages at the end of of the request/response cycle (after response has been sent).

The FingersCrossedHandler in logbook is a clever idea.
