Application Resource Bundle (abbr. ARB) is a localization resource format that is simple (based on JSON), extensible (vocabulary can be added without affecting existing tools and usage), and directly usable (applications can access the resource directly from this format without converting to another form).

In ARB, localizable resources are encoded as a JSON object. Each resource will have a resource entry identified by resource key, and an optional resource attribute entry with resource attribute key.

lib

This is the ARB supporting library in Javascript. ARB is not restricted to any specific platform/languager. Issues in web application has been addressed carefully, as this is where localization practice lacked behind.

arb_editor

This is actually a sample app for use with our Javascript supporting library.

arb_extractor

A tool written in Java to automate resource extraction. It uses a generic parser (Antlr), which allow it to deal with many kinds of languages.

Lack of documentation: examples of plural forms usage for non trivial locales (e.g: ru, ja, zh_CN)

Hi folk,
currently I am working on localization of our dart applications and I have a misunderstanding of plural forms usage: it's not clear how to convert plural gettext dataset into arb for some specific languages. Could you please show us any examples with compiled ARB for ru, ja and zh_CN locales?

Example resource file starts with JavaScript

It's confusing that the example resource file starts with arb.register("arb_ref_app, {", given that that ARB files are JSON-based and JavaScript shouldn't actually be a part of ARB resource files.

Please change the example to be representative of what actual ARB files look like, removing the JavaScript.

Missing specification

This repo is linked from dart-lang/intl (via a Google Code redirect) but hasn't been updated since 2014. The README says that the specification of the ARB format is in the "doc" directory, but this directory doesn't exist.

Where is the specification of the ARB format, please? I can't find any useful documentation on its full capabilities.
