When you send a message from Flutter to Unity, the id is supplied for you to reuse later to send messages back. I send an initialisation message from Flutter when the view is created and store the id. This wasn't immediately clear though I agree!

The view id is automatically assigned by Flutter's PlatformView, and the plugin's implementation abstracts away these ids for the Flutter side. You should only care about a view id on the Unity side.

The Message object is documented here, and from a developer perspective, it exclusively applies to the Unity side, hence why it's documented under Unity. When you send a message from Flutter, your message is internally encapsulated according to this specification.
