Yeah, I think that may just do the trick. We could then remove all references to curated
in Linguist and not have to worry about it in future.

It's generally the license text and license classification in the frontmatter. Whilst I've not used this yet (only discovered we did this in the past in Linguist thanks to a ping on the original issue), we sometimes encounter situations where Licensee/Licensed doesn't correct identify the grammar license so it needs to be manually set and added to Linguist.
I believe the original intent of this attribute was to indicate that this was manually added.
I know you don't touch Linguist anymore @arfon, but is my understanding correct from what you remember?
