Cannot use checkintool about git-tfs HOT 2 CLOSED

Is there a way to remove this file from the git-tfs index so that I can run the checkintool? I don't need it committed to tfs.

If you want to keep the file locally:

git rm --cached blah/blah/file.ext # remove it from the index
echo blah/blah/file.ext >> .gitignore # append the file to .gitignore
git add .gitignore
git commit -m "Removed blah/blah/file.ext, which doesn't need to be in git."

I think I've seen the error you're seeing before. I don't have a good solution for you, though. It was usually something weird going on with the temporary workspace, and it eventually just went away. You might try git tfs cleanup. Also, if you're on Vista or 7 and running git as an unprivileged user and VS as admin, you'll get permission problems from time to time.
