Project files are generated using the "Torque 3D.exe" toolbox. Alternatively you can copy one of the templates in the "Templates" folder and run the "generateProjects.bat" file which will generate the VC++ project files.
from torque3d.
.bat files are easy targets for C# and PowerShell files. Any .bat file converted to PowerShell should be for production only. Fork the project, generate the batch files, and commit to forked repository. Leverage it.

We should add a Getting Started guide either in the repo, or the Wiki (and point to it from the repo).
from torque3d.
It would make sense to put the Getting Started guide and all other documents in the other repository. https://github.com/GarageGames/Torque3D-Documentation
All JavaScript content fits in the doc repo also. Good starting place to move the TS discussion and wiki.

As I read under basic usage of TorqueScript, it sounded like any intent of its use is another git-project on the cover. It probably didn't sound like that before git.
I wanted to point that out here so it is clear where we have experienced clutter in the source repository with too many projects. The source repository doesn't become independent enough when it has other dependencies in that cause issues getting started. No harm intended, this can lead to some fascinating discussions.
Let .js files and qr-codes help locate that begin point. I favor the qr-code, less likely to break UX.
from torque3d.
For example: https://github.com/Dzonatas/Torqu3D/blob/master/README.md
from torque3d.
You're suggesting we use QR Codes to point people to docs? They work good in print form when I have a smart phone, but I'm not sure how useful they are online. It doesn't mean anything to a person.
from torque3d.
It works (for me). It's "code." It's intuitive. It means as much as your .EXEs.
from torque3d.
@Dzonatas I disagree, QR Codes aren't intuitive as to what they're going to provide (because, after all, they're just strings when decoded.) Without a device to decipher the QR code, they're meaningless.
from torque3d.
I can move my pointer over the QR-Code and it is smart to tell me exactly
what it means.
Code is, as you say, very meaningless to non-programmers. The filename is
README.md and it tells you exactly what is intended with its contents.
from torque3d.
Really? I don't get a tool tip to give any indication as to what it means. Additionally I get a 372 character link which firefox truncates to "https://a248.e.akamai.net/camo.github.com/a965c417...{more hex from the sha sum}" which is not descriptive at all. Also, I didn't say "code" I said "QR Code" so the rest of your description is going to be chalked up to you not reading carefully.
from torque3d.
It sounds as if you are unable to read the qr-code that quickly, @losinggeneration. It is meant for quick response, like for those that want to jump in and get started.
Does Torque3D have any QR-Code generator/reader? Surely, your device doesn't suggest that the generated code need to be obscured here.
This is the code repository. There is another repository for docs. It's like two processes.

@Dzonatas I have to know, and this is a serious question, is English your primary language, or did you grow up in some other part of the world and English was a secondary language? I ask because it'll be less frustration on my part when I read your comments that are barely legible and when you use the wrong terminology.
from torque3d.
@losinggeneration Your asking me questions? I have received Highest Honors, and is there anything else you need pry about me? I can point you to my G+ profile where it explains some depth to my application: If you want to socialize with us then, start there, please, not here. My blog +Icesphere is more worthwhile.
I wrote prose. Those who complain about someone else's English typically has no idea about prose. That's good. Don't be evil, k.
Your institution certainly is more interested in this than you. In fact, that is when there is some desire need for the "we" kind of discussion and business as usual. I can deal with all ages, if they let me, so that begins the we discussion and I am not paranoid about that much. I appreciate every god dam[n] bit of paranoia[ds] except pieces to ignore by law.
I do not play games; anymore, yet I still love the experience and would love to turn my private internship into that income by games. Cache out on good pension; that keeps me good.
I've been offline, hello. If you think C++ is sexy then, drop that persistent point in discussion because I have already seen faster code with C# on Mono, like that qr-code and how ASP.NET servers have already made that bit elite.
I like .NET and anything of about internet domains in the .net domain local only, so that it is served (no clients) hop by hop. We would speak of law code more, yet that is provisionally not meant to be spoken like speech when its intent is as code. I feel that step ahead of you, and I rather drop the "we" and "you" language in code. I don't judge people down to that Earth. Nature has its ways, with intuitiveness learned by age, which we still don't speak of ASL, as much as possible.
ASL.NET would be top on search engine lists, but there is ASP. See what dyslexia taught me. Maybe this should be on github.edu or github.us or gg.us or somewhere that persists code loops out of out this distraction.
Maybe there should be different licenses for /usr/bin/t3d.exe and /usr/games/bin/t3d.exe, and it could explain why code diversity co-exists.
I liked the sound of the garage tune-up shop for all engines online. Meshes, like this.

This is the same guy that suggested we swapped TorqueScript with collada for scripting.. I am still unsure whether hes a bot or just uses some random google translator or something..

"I don't like that man. I must get to know him."
Google's logo said I aced it. I didn't see that template in the repository for anything of it to be on-topic.
from torque3d.
@GarageGames or probably @DavidWyand-GG I hate to say this, but I don't think I've seen a single quality or on-topic post by @Dzonatas. I hate to ask, as it gives me no pleasure, but should this perhaps be moderated?
--Edit--
I'd also like to apologize to @ex for cluttering up his issue. This seriously wasn't my intent, and I'm sorry for doing it.
from torque3d.
Any cross-topic on-topic discussion can be blamed on the fact that these messages continue to send to threaded queues despite the watch button being unpressed. They appear in order received in my offline reader, so I think @losinggeneration has an issue with that being enabled.
I'm not out to ruin your day job, so we have schemes you do not understand. Get past it.
from torque3d.
@losinggeneration I didn't see your name on this list. Torque3D Members
You sounded as if this in English was important to you. I went ahead and opened up the Prototypes wiki page: Prototypes. I suppose other primitives and boxes are not important to you.
from torque3d.
@Dzonatas Well maybe that is because he didn't fork the T3D doccumentation.
Dzonatas you take everything as an insult even when people are writing constructive comments to you. Then you state things that makes no sense like, Collada being the perfect replacement for TorqueScript, which makes no sense since Collada is not a scripting language but a a file format for 3D models. Like PNG files are not scripts either, they are data.
Stop taking everything as an insult and turning this repo into a rage war. I deeply hope that, if you keep going like this, GG will take action and prevent you from cluttering up the boards.
from torque3d.
@lukaspj I have no problem with constructive comments, especially if they are focused on the software and packages only. What we found are unconstructive criticism, like yours and his, aimed at other participants.
Looks like there are no toes to step on to use COLLADA with script content. Time to get more familiar with it.
Are there any tutor lists? (I mean...) this is MIT licensed.
from torque3d.
@Dzonatas Even if you choose to take my comment as a unconstructive criticism. There have been several people asking you a multitude of times what you were talking about in a polite manner, but you have either answered them angrily or with an answer that makes no sense. What do you mean by tutor list?
A list of people who should help students? No there is not, that doesn't have anything to do with MIT license. You cannot script games with Collada.
ASL.NET would be top on search engine lists, but there is ASP
What are you talking about? What does this has to do with anything?
I could go on but I wouldn't your comments is out of context and impossible to understand, not because of bad spelling, bad grammar or bad english but because the content you write is.. Meaningless.. It makes no sense and is completely out of context.
from torque3d.
Unfortunately, this has moved way beyond this issue's intent. I was hoping things would turn around.
Time to close off this issue. I will open a new one with @ex's original question and we can try again.
