Would it be possible to preserve the Blender changes after an update by reassigning the materials and modifiers assigned to each object in the hierarchy by name?

It would have to be imported rather than linked, however, in order to allow changes on the model.

I have several linked collections that contain linked objects and other linked collections. They're all assets in a library I have set up.

Blender completely freezes after dragging in a few collections.

I installed the addon but it doesn't work. Object information is not automatically updated.

When linking a library is linked into an unsaved file the load_post handler doesn't fire for some reason, and therefore library changes aren't picked up until the current file is reloaded.

Furthermore, unlinking a library doesn't free the watcher, which could result in pointless refreshes.
