syncthing-pyselective's Issues

Feature Request: Escape illegal characters

I have some files with.. [!] in the filenames. Don't ask me why I have no idea. I have to manually escape the bracket and exclamation point using back slashes. It would be nice if your gui automatically handled escaping illegal characters.

In the mean time, I intend to batch rename my files to remove those illegal characters.

Thanks! โ˜บ

Checkbox bugs

Great to see you're building a solution for convenient selective sync! I've been trying it out but run into some issues.

I applied the ignore template to my test folder, to prepare it for syncthing-pyselective:

//* Do not edit comments like this! *//

//* Global ignores *//

!/.stignoreglobal

// Uncomment the next file if only the file exists locally

//#include .stignoreglobal

//* User defined *//

// optional local ignores

//* Selective sync (generated by pyselective) *//

!/folder

//* ignore all except selected *//

**

Then I run syncthing-pyselective. All folders are ignored by default, which is expected.

Then I check a folder.

But when I expand the folder, the 'checked' state disappears. Also, the items inside the folder are yellow (globalignore). No idea why as I don't have any custom ignore rules.

Re-checking the folder I want to sync still doesn't check the sub-items and I'm not allowed to check any of the yellow items.

Expanding the yellow folder and checking a sub-item can lead to inconsistent checkbox state (unchecked box for firefox-87.0.source, even though some children are checked).

How is syncthing-pyselective working out for you? I hope you continue to improve it ๐Ÿ™‚

P.S.
Tested with syncthing-pyselective-0.2.1 on MacOS.

Feature / Inforrmation

Is possible to have a complet v0.2.2 with the EXE or in which way the source files can implement?

I gave in the thread https://forum.syncthing.net/t/selective-sync-feature-most-important/16394/37 a note to your tool, are you involved in such discussions?

It would be good to have a possibility to store different installations. I use 3-4 Synology NAS on which 2 instances of Syncthing are installed each, then different desktop computers and Android Smartphones. Would be possible such a feature?

Remote Use

I'd like to be able to do something like this despite not being at either computer running the SyncThing processes. Would it be reasonable to have a mode where both sides are accessed by IP address? Or perhaps expose a web interface like SyncThing does, rather than a local graphical interface?

In my target use case, one endpoint is a headless NAS and the other is a media machine with a 10-foot UI and SSH access.

Feature request: Linux release

I got your gui working in Linux by adding it as a "non steam game" to my Steam Deck library. Then I chose proton experimental. The fact that this works is actually amazing. However, a native Linux release would be nice since the text doesn't render properly the way I'm doing this.

Thanks! ๐Ÿ˜˜
