galasa.dev's Issues

Various links need more descriptive text

Let's use descriptive link text rather than 'here' or 'download' or similar, to aid readability, screen readers, and SEO.

Links I've spotted on pages:

  • /docs/getting-started/installing
  • /docs/running-simbank-tests/simbank-IVT

Docs could be more specific about how to run Galasa SimBank

Under Getting Started, in the subtopic 'Launching SimBank' (which might perhaps be named 'Launching Galasa SimBank'), the instructions say "If you have previously started SimBank, then select and run its run configuration". I wonder if it will be clear to all users how to 'select and run its run configuration'. Could the docs perhaps explain more about using the Run Configurations menu and selecting the Run Configuration that you created for SimBank?

Simplatform Update and refresh

Starter Epic for Aaron.

This is a peice of work to help get the Simbank samples and repositories back up to date with the current versions of Galasa and in working order with up to date documentation.

Dummy issue created for documentation of the GitHub Manager.

Dummy issue created for documentation of the GitHub Manager.

GitHub issue 1178 has a status of open on GitHub in the galasa-dev/projectmanagement repository. Issue 1178 tracks a known problem with the behaviour of the Z/OS Batch Manager. The issue causes the test class BatchAccountsOpenTest to fail.

Clarify use of PCOMM/Galasa

Feedback from SHARE via James.

When reading the doc section on manually exploring SimBank, some users came to the incorrect conclusion that they needed to tie PCOMM up with Galasa in some way. This is not true - PCOMM is used independently to let people play with SImBank but is not needed for Galasa.

Add a note to make this clear.

Incorrect direction at small form factors

On the page /docs the following instruction occurs:

This hub page contains links to the main Galasa documentation. To get going with Galasa as quickly as possible, explore the Getting started section on the left-hand menu.

This won't be true when using a small form factor.

Front page: better actionability for key features

User testing with new users indicates that the key features on the front page ('Lighten the load', etc) draw in users but then they can take no action based on them.

The text itself interests them, and they wish to click through to to see how they can do X Y and Z, but there's nothing - it becomes a dead end and they have to start the trawl for information from scratch once they get into the About or Docs sections.
