death-to-ie11's Issues

Improve design

I am no designer, but I know that the design for the website is terrible and I don;t know how to fix it. I am open to suggestions and design submissions.

Buttons for h2?

The buttons have no actions attached to them. This is a very confusing UI decision. Is there a plan to have them do something?

EOL for Windows 10 got extended

Describe the bug
The current counter shows 6 years until IE11 dies. The EOL page for Windows 10 (https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/lifecycle/search?alpha=Windows%2010) gives 2029-01-09 as the last date. So it should be closer to 9 years (unfortunately).

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to https://death-to-ie11.netlify.com/
  2. Click on 'nothing'
  3. Scroll down to 'not needed'
  4. See error: '6 Years'

Additional context
Although LTSC is not the norm for Windows 10 users, it does exist and does include IE11. Maybe add a disclaimer that MS is making a mess of their EOL policy and you should actually measure IE usage (as I see it's already becoming irrelevant for some of my customers, for others not so).

Your source for end of support is wrong

You claim "I got the data from windows 10 end of support documentation".
However, under the current policy, Windows 10 is never going do be EOL.
They are going to continue releasing new versions every 6 months that will extend the current EOL.
Unless a major change in the Windows release model is presented, your date is, unfortunately, based on constantly outdated data.
The current mainstream end of support is 10/05/2022 (in 2 years rather than 4 months, see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/products/windows-10-home-and-pro, reachable from your own link), and is going to be extended in a matter of weeks as 2021H1 is nearing release.
A more accurate description would be "I got the data from what I wish will happen"

Also, for related reasons, the second link in your Why section (https://www.swyx.io/ie11-eol/) claims that Windows 10 support ended six months ago (I quote: "mainstream support for Windows 10 ends on Oct 13 2020"), which would mean Microsoft is no longer a PC operating system vendor as they have no alternatives outside the server space. While that would be really nice, it's really not what happened.
