openwifimap-html5's Issues

Contributing to OSM

Why maintain a separate database rather than just making this a custom OSM frontend, since free wifi can easily be tagged within OSM as well?

https compatibility

I think the openwifimap should be https (only) ready.
Up to now all scrips and styles use http (hard coded).

A possible solution should be to use external sources without protocol //something.com/file.css

I tried it locally, but some of your sources don't use signed (only self signed) certificates. This will be blocked by the most browsers until the user accept the certificate manually.

Without this changes the openwifimap couldn't included in https pages like the berlin freifunk page or isn't displayed when using plugins like HTTPS Everywhere.

CloudMade Tiles are not free anymore, 403 for tile requests

The CloudMade tiles cannot be loaded anymore, as they are restricting their free tiles. In Firefox and Chrome, the map background is completely empty.
In Firebug the network tab shows the following:

URL Status Domain Size Remote IP Time
GET 10903.png 403 Forbidden a.tile.cloudmade.com 12 B 54.230.200.166:80 138ms
GET 10903.png 403 Forbidden b.tile.cloudmade.com 12 B 54.230.200.192:80 134ms

Replacing CloudMade with an alternative tile provider could help, like Lyrk.de

links missing on map

I've installed luci-app-owm in our local OLSRv1 (IPv4) mesh network here in Neot Smadar in Israel.
The nodes also show up on the map and that's a great step forward already.
However, though the OLSR links are part of the JSON dataset, they are not shown on the map :(
Sometimes it seems like some lines show on the map when hovering over a group of nodes, but as soon as zooming in to see them individually, also that doesn't happen any more.
What's wrong?
See for example https://openwifimap.net/api/db/WR841-2.arig

Enable gzip compression on openwifimap.net

E.g., the view_nodes_spatial call for Berlin is currently 1.4MBytes - with gzip it would be 190KBytes. Downloading all node data (as happens on the Berlin statistics page due to missing precomputation) is ~8MBytes instead of 700KBytes.

remove email from json dataset

it is possible to remove the email address from the json data after you clicked "Full JSON Dataset"? I know it's not full then anymore but for privacy reason we could think about it after there is a mail form (see #6)
