Sometimes it makes sense to provide an explicit array of values, if the mapping of parameters is, e.g., not linear. We should add the option to provide an explicit array of elements instead of a minimum, maximum and increment.

This is more a memo than a concrete rfc.

Instead of using difficult command line options, add support for advanced configuration files (e.g. YAML). Something like providing the input design matrix and a configuration file. In addition, adding an option to track the unique id's of any configuration generated. This could, e.g., be done by holding all configurations in the same file and, based on the size of each set (information is automatically added by the python script) the range of consecutive ids is saved and thus fixed.

This would also allow to regenerate a specific single configuration from just the id.

An SQLite database would be a perfect place to add configurations and also allow appending configurations.
It would be possible to store all setups in one database, with all input and output.

This would also allow the database to be directly used within simulation software, to get configurations dynamically and also store the data back in the database.
