The underlying issue in Mandelbrot was fixed in @frctl/[email protected]
, so yes, if you're tring to stay on an older version, it cannot be fixed.
Can you clarify what are the design decisions you're referring to that block the upgrade?

Okay, I understand.
The design decision is the subnavigation which is opened vertically. As you stated in Discord some time ago this is not an on/off-feature. And our team decided against this new feature. So I shall stay on mandelbrot 1.7

Yeah, we initially made the decision to change the navigation for everyone. But it has been a controversial decision, multiple members of our community have spoken out against the change.
I would be willing to accept a PR to make it configurable (e,g, an option between new and old nav), if anyone is interested in contributing this.
This bug as it's reported has no future, maybe if you'll change it to be a feature request to make the nav configurable, it would gain a bit more traction? Bonus points if you're willing to dig up some references to questions about the nav change :)

Then I'll have to live with the old version (1.5.2) or with the navigation. Thanks for clarification.
