DESIGN ideas

Some initial thoughts on design:

  • Package will contain a database of datasets.
  • RData files will live in (a) github releases, (b) ICES TAF, (c) other accessible websites.
  • Set of functions to load a dataset from web: github/fishdata, TAF, url.
  • Function to install downloaded dataset into local fishdata/data folder, updating index file.
  • Different versions of dataset available: releases by date/year, TAF by year.
  • Metadata in database: name, description, source, date/year, FAO 3alpha, RFMO/scientific body, code (e.g. ICES code), link/url, website, dimensions
