Odds are it's because it's RGB rather than RGBA. You'll want to adjust this code to work with 24-bit colors in addition to 32-bit.

Well, how do I find out whether it is RGB or RGBA and how do convert it then?

The "easy" way out would be to use SDL_ConvertSurfaceFormat:

But only when the conversion is needed... for that, look to the SDL_Surface, which we've got at the bottom of Texture2D.cs:

EDIT: Or maybe even ConvertPixels: http://wiki.libsdl.org/SDL_ConvertPixels
