A potential problem here is that HTML5 storage (localstorage) can only handle strings and not array buffers.

We can just encode the array data to a string and store that. It will increase size a bit, but will work. It's the usual way I've seen people do this with image data and the like.

Best way is probably to do:

binary = unescape(encodeURIComponent(characters));
characters= decodeURIComponent(escape(binary));

I wonder if this ticket should morph, though, to abstract away the particular storage implementation being used in the filesystem. Doing so would mean that we could use any of indexedDB, webSQL, or storage (in that order), depending on what's available in the browser. Doing so would mean that this lib becomes "Web File System - WFS or WebFS" instead of IDBFS.

I think we should close this now that you've filed #21. It probably isn't useful to bother with localStorage when indexeddb + websql give us pretty much every browser we care about on desktop and mobile.
