octreerenderer's Introduction

[Requirements]:

At least one OpenCL sdk must be installed.

A python script is provided to ease CMake argument selection.

[Building]:

Using the python script:

	python build.py

The executable will be located in bin/octreeRenderer.

Alternatively, we can build without using Python: Make a directory so as not to pollute the source tree:

	mkdir bin; cd bin

Generate the makefiles using CMake:

	cmake ..

Then invoke the makefile:

	make

You will find the executable in ./src/octreeRenderer.

[Generating Data]

Some test data has been put into the /data folder of the source.

This data can be converted to octrees by by executing the geometryToOctree executable.

For example, if the current directory is the folder where this README resides, and the project was built using the python script run:

    bin/geometryToOctree data/sphere.obj sphere10 10

This will create a 11-level octree (from 0 to 10, inclusive). In the current directory. This will be a folder named sphere11.voct.

[Rendering]

After data has been generated, it can be rendered using the octreeRenderer executable.

For example, if you have followed the README up to here, you can execute:

    bin/octreeRenderer sphere11

And the sphere scene will be rendered.
