I often jump to the beginning or end of the line, which can be accomplished by respectively pressing ^ and $.

But, these two characters require a lot of effort because they are difficult to reach without removing your fingers from the home row.

To get around that, I usually press A^ESC and I^ESC. It is quickest for me.

But just today I've discovered another way to do it: 0 and shift+space. Super quickly. And if you want to get to the first character—instead of beginning of line—you may as well press 0w.
