morningpages's Issues

Wordcount incorrect?

I just submitted a page, which libreoffice counts as 786 words (and so did the site pre-submit). After submit the wordcount was 863

Badges for 3 days in a row and 7 days in a row missing

As the title states, it seems that badges for the second and third badge are missing/not functioning. I've looked at the morningpages source and it seems that (as the actual path to the badges is not stored in this repo) either the png files are either incorrectly named (in the code it is referred to as a hattrick, but the png is name 3-days-in-a-row.png or something) or not stored correctly in the achievements database. Could anyone have a short look at this or provide me a brief overview on how to set this up locally (ubuntu 15.04 or windows 8 please (; ) so I can give it a go myself?

Kind regards, a concerned morningpages user

Unable to view previously written entries

Forgive my naivety, but I was under the impression that we could refer back to our to previous entries later on in time. Isn't it the case? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Thank you.

"http://morningpages.net/about" links to defunct Talk pages

It's in the final line, the sentence "If you find that your question hasn't been answered, you can head over to the Morning Pages Talk area and post your question in the Support section." I, as a new user to the site, clicked and got an error. Minor, but I thought I'd report it.

Save duration with the autosave

The duration is currently not saved with the autosaves. That means that if I refresh the page (or crash, or go somewhere else and then come back to writing), the startingtime is 0 and the duration will therefore be wrong.

Solution: Save the duration with the autosaves, and append it when the autosave is loaded.

Enable RTL writing

Some languages are written right to left, currently not possible. Should be an easy fix:

  • User option toggle
  • CSS to set the textarea to RTL

ISO date format in URL?

Is it possible to use the ISO date format to minimise confusion across formats? I saw 12-11-2014 in the URL and it took me a second to realise it referred to 11 December, not 12 November.

Thank you for a beautiful and useful webapp.

Wrong timestamp in export files

Instead of the right date, the timestamps in the export files are way off. I hope this gets fixed soon, since I intend to export my entries often.

Check/task lists

Here om Github you can add checkboxes or task lists like so

  • Unfinished item
  • Finished item

It would be interesting to add that feature to MP. It should be relatively easy to write a regex to extract all the items and add a to-do list in a box over the wordcloud for example.

/talk improvements

  • RSS feed
  • E-mail notifications on reply (toggle-able)
  • "New" icon if new replies have been posted since you last logged in

Notifications

There are dual notifications happening when you log in/do anything. One is absolutely positioned and one is near the form element wherever the issue occurred.

0 day challengers

Seems like there are some people who signed up for the 30 day challenge, but never finished a day and are now stuck on the wall? Like "Obesechicken13"

Markdown preview

We need to be able to preview /talk posts etc. like on Reddit for example. Need a js lib for it.

Daily reminder e-mails

Currently reminder is sent out only if someone logs in. Need to make this happen every 24 hours

We need a "keep me logged in" option.

Currently the privacy option is counter-intuitive. It seems like if you turn it off you should stay logged in, but we just default to PHPs session lifetime which is ~20 mins, so you'll get logged out after 20 mins inactvity or a browser restart.

Possibly have the privacy option turned on by default and if it's toggled off you'll be remembered on that machine?
Not sure I like this though, because if you log in from a different machine you'll stay logged in there as well.

Another solution would be to allow people to stay logged in from the sign-in modal (checkbox)
