liquorice's Introduction

liquorice

Liquorice is a small black and white theme for Hugo (a fast and modern static website engine).

Dependencies

Liquorice needs at least version 0.20 of Hugo.

Partials

There are a few partials that is of great interest to override

author

The author partial is added at the end of each single page (such as blog posts) and by default only prints the name of the author registered in the site params, e.g. in your config.toml

[params]
    author = "Markus"

In order to override and have your own markup appended to single pages, just create the file layouts/partials/author.html and roll your own.

Shortcodes

Liquorice comes with these additional shortcodes:

gist

Include a Github gist using their JavaScript include.

{{% gist e572b28c9a0eef0b2763 %}}

Where the first parameter is the gist id.

Building

There is not much to build, but the theme CSS is minified using the node tool clean-css.

cleancss -o static/css/liquorice.min.css static/css/liquorice.css

Any change in styles needs to result in a minification!

License

Liquorice is released under the MIT license, see LICENSE for details.

liquorice's Issues

Add CSS for tables

Hi,
It would be cool to add a bunch of CSS codes to display nicely tables. For example:

table {
  width: 100%;
  max-width: 100%;
  border: 1px solid #aaa;
}

th, td {
  padding: 2px 10px;
  position: relative;
  transition: all 300ms;
}

tr:nth-child(odd) td {
  background: #f1f1f1;
}

Regards.

Improve pre styling

Improve the styling of pre elements for articles.

Consider adding a JavaScript alternative to syntax highlighting.

.Now will be deprecated with Hugo v0.20

.Now will be deprecated replaced with the now template function in Hugo v0.20 which eventually will be released on Monday. It's likely that the deprecation will cause builds to fail.

Add author information

Make a partial for adding (semi) detailed information about the author that gets added as a signature on all articles.

Background does not follow overlong code block

Having an overlong code-block, will enhance the code-block with a scrollbar. If you scroll, the background does not follow the content.

I think this explains it best:

Normal view:

Scrolled:

Is it fixable to have the background expand over the whole content?

Images don't scale to the width of the content

When I embed an image in a page with

![alt text](/image/url)

if the image is wider than the page, it'll just overflow off the right hand side of the page: The expected behaviour is that the image scales to the width of the content.

It would also be nice if clicking the image loaded a lightbox, but that's not necessary.
