Sorry to bother you again. Yesterday I write my own UPF but it can not be debugged just like before. By contrast, I take the BISO usermat, and it can be debugged. Even I delete all the usermat files in install directory, and i put my compiled in a special place as below. Then my own usermat.F could be compiled but can not debugged and unconverged for the 1st iteration. This is odd. I am confused for so long time. May I ask you for some advices? Thank you so much.

I`m trying to develop a new material model using usermat (in Ansys 2019 R3) for which I want to use visual studio 2017 as a debugger.

I`m using ANSCUST.bat for compiling my usermat.

I would be glad if you help me modify them for debugging.

Also, it is not allowing me to attach .bat files. So, I`m attaching that content via .docs.

You can fwd me the modified files to ### REMOVED###.

Thank you so much for the great explanation. There is one thing where I'm stuck and that's in part 2.3 where you check the loaded symbols. I have Ansys R2021.2 and followed your instructions in the previous steps. The compilation with the intel compiler works just fine but when I load the code into VS it always says that the symbols aren't loaded. I guess that's also why the debugging does not work as expected. It does not stop at the breakpoints when I run an Ansys simulation.
Can you help me with the symbols issue? You're talking about some missing .pdb file? I am not too much into coding and would be really thankful for some help!

I am a mechanical engineer using Ansys. Recently, I've been learning Ansys UPF, but trapped with some strange errors. If it's convenient for you to help, here's the details.
1)My test version is ANSYS2019R1, which is v193, and VS 2015/ Intel Fortran 17.04 which is exactly same as ANSYS help demands.
2)I take the origin ANSCUST.BAT and modify it as below like others, and add "-debug" in ansys.lrf. Compile this usermat3D2.F, it shows the warning "LNK4009, can not find PDB vfansys.pdb ……“
3）Link successed at last. But apdl output window does not show the comments1 in upf , neither the comments 2 in outfile.
4) Initially, i didn't consider debug mode but normal compile. The results were same, which ANSYS.exe can not output message from UPF file.
5)I even tried the new vesion Ansys2022R1, it's the same error——customized ANSYS.exe worked but can not output message and can not debug.
6) I have set the SMP, and it can not work.
7)My laptop is AMD Ryzen processor not intel one. Is this the reason?
8) I have learn your excellent post about this ansys upf topic, and I have tried your v195anscust.bat, but it's not suitable for v193. I am so glad if u can help.
