I needed a way to gate some web services into traditional readers. I wrote an NNTP client and server.
I'm still working on coming up with the exact right interfaces, but take a look at the couchserver example to see what it takes to build a custom NNTP server with your own backend.
It is currently only explicitly checked for 200 when connecting.
For a download-only connection, status 201 would also be a valid status, according to RFC 3977 section-5.1.1

Under wich license exactly is this library?
When handling a POST request with the NNTP server library, the headers are parsed and the original headers are discarded.
In particular, the header order is discarded as the parsed headers are stored in a map that doesn't keep the order.
It would be great to have access to unparsed posted message. Once the message is stored in a buffer, we can then parse at will the headers afterwards. I can prepare a pull request for that.
