I and maintainer of dlang-nix, Petar Kirov, decided to merge these two projects. The current plan is to port the work from here to there. After that is done, the readme file should redirect to dlang-nix and this repository should be archived.

The link from https://dlang.org/download.html should also be redirected to dlang-nix once the migration is done.

I have so far tested with NixOS 21.05, but that is the old release now. This is unlikely to be a problem, since NixOS 21.11 is roughly the same as my unstable channel, but best to make sure anyway.

What if one wants to install a DMD version with nix-env? I should document how to do that to README.md - In fact I'm not even sure of the instructions myself!

2.095 is still the main compiler in stable channel, so that's an easy add. I would also like to support some older versions, 2.088, 2.084, perhaps even older.

The derivations are really slow to test manually, at least if running the tests. It just won't get done on a reasonable level without a CI environment.

There are experiences that DMD build with LDC runs a good bit faster.

This is something to be upstreamed to Nixpkgs if I or someone else can make it happen.
