Hi, I had this error, and it turned out that my cell type labels could not have spaces or hyphens. Replacing these with underscores using the str_replace_all function in the stringr package in R fixed the error.

I had dealt with the spaces before, but not the hyphens. So after fixing that the buildSignatureMatrixMAST function works fine.
