bed4026 adds the ability to specify the length of a field, so now your example can be expressed as
./sysdig -p "%12user.name %6proc.pid %12proc.name %3fd.num %fd.typechar %fd.name" evt.type=open
from sysdig.
And 8ba0ea3 fixes the fact that failed opens are not included. And in fact now you can do an interesting variation:
./sysdig -p "%12user.name %6proc.pid %12proc.name %3fd.num %fd.typechar %fd.na" evt.type=open and evt.failed=true
from sysdig.
Excellent! That's a sweet oneliner -- trace all failed opens!
