In my case I was unable to run using sudo...I would get the error message of sysdig-probe.ko not loaded. After copying to /lib/modules/3.2.0-60-generic-pae/kernel/drivers/, running depmod -a, and modprobe sysdig-probe.ko it worked fine. Now, I've modprobe -r sysdig-probe.ko and running sysdig automatically loads that kernel mod. Maybe just document the manual cp of sysdig-probe.ko to the modules dir? Just a thought...thanks again.

an insmod in a local dir seems to also work (for me).

Can a make target like install_kernel_module be a solution? People can then install it with simply:
make install_kernel_module
In this way the install target is intact and there is a quick shortcut to install the just compiled kernel module.
