legislationtagger's Issues

Add thanks message after tagging

At the moment, the page just refreshes with a new piece of legislation and the tagging form.

It would be nice to have a message confirming that the previous tags have been saved, and the option to view/edit it somehow.

No evidence of activity on the site, makes me even less likely to participate

(Disclaimer: I only spotted the project in the democracy club slack, so am happy to accept I might not be the target audience!)

Might actually be a follow-on from #7 – the site looks dead. There's no indication that anyone else is using the site, that anyone else has signed up, or that there’s any data already in the site. Why should I bother participating if nobody else is.

Sorry that sounds super harsh!! You know what I mean though.

What have we decided about domains?

Is the plan to keep this on Heroku or stick it at e.g. legislationtagger.doteveryone.org.uk? (Are we even able to do that? No idea how our hosting works etc.)

Improve the welcome email

After creating an account, I got the following email:

Subject: Welcome
From: no-reply@localhost
To: [*****]
Date: Tue, 12 Jul 2016 09:08:13 +0000

Welcome [email protected]!

I suggest this be extended to include a reminder of the point of the web site (in one line), and at least one call to action ("tag something now, it takes 2 minutes"). Also, allow replying to the emails :)

(Making this issue because it's easy to forget about making welcome emails better)

Creating an account is too high friction for too little benefit

(Disclaimer: I only spotted the project in the democracy club slack, so am happy to accept I might not be the target audience!)

  • Don’t understand why I should have to create an account to start tagging stuff.
  • Not clear what you’re going to do with my details.
  • Maybe I might be more likely to sign up if I could just do it in one click with a "Sign up via Twitter" button.
  • "Email" text box doesn’t have type="email" which means my iPad shows me the wrong keyboard for inputting email addresses.

My gut instinct was: I don't want to go through the hassle of giving you all this information before I actually know whether the act of tagging is rewarding. Let me try it out first. Even if you end up ignoring everything I tag while I'm in the trial mode.
