amdgpu-pro-fans's Introduction

Depricated For Replacement C++ Project

I have depricated this project as it was meant to be an example. I am currently developing my new project in C++ and will have a release ready soon. It's name is GPUMAGIC and it is specifically engineered not just for mining but for managing any large compute cluster which uses AMD Graphics Cards. You can get more information on it in my repository GPUMAGIC which is also the future home of the code (currently in testing and debugging)

Author: DominiLux License: Apache Version 2.0

This is an alpha release written in unix style bash script. It is a simple utility that allows you to set the fan speeds for AMD cards that support use the AMD GPU PRO driver. There are many features I will be adding to this over the coming days and weeks.

Stable Branch

The current master branch is considered the stable release. The code in the development branch may not have been fully tested.

Installation Instructions:

Usage:

sudo ./amdgpu-pro-fans.sh -s [speed 0 - 100]

Usage Example:

sudo ./amdgpu-pro-fans.sh s 80 That would set all of your fan speeds to 80 percent of their maximum speed. The argument works perfectly as of the current stable release.

Notes:

Fully tested on Ubuntu 16.04 with AMDGPU-PRO proprietary linux drivers. It is now compatible with all Radeon R8 Series, R9 Series, and RX Series graphics cards. I will be adding the option to specify a specific adapter soon. It will be in the works in the development branch and I will merge it here once it's coded, tested, and debugged.

This version defaults to all adapters.

amdgpu-pro-fans's Issues

Fans doesen't spin

Hi,
I'm on ubuntu 16.04 lst and i've a r9 fury but the fans doesen't spin
i've used "sudo ./amdgpu-pro-fans.sh s 80" but nothings happened, in windows the videocard works fine
ideas?

Cant restore automatic fan control

I run amd pro fans and change the speed of my fans to 75% but now i want to restore my gpu's default setting that controls automatic in consideration of temp my fans. How can i do that?

Run multiple times?

Can you run this script multiple times? First time I ran it it gave me an error about the on board video not having a fan, but it set the other cards fans to what percent I told it.

But on subsequent runs it doesn't return errors, no changes to the fan speed, nothing.

Thanks

Thanks for share it.

This code could also help to identify the GPUs. If it run up and down the speed of the fan per gpu, one at the the time, it could help to knpw which is each gpu .

Anyway thanka

Fan speed keeps changing

Hi there, I have installed your app and when i run

sudo ./amdgpu-pro-fans.sh -s 40

The fan speed drops to 40% for around 10 seconds then speeds up again.

How do i set to remain at 40%

Ubuntu 16.04 4 x RX490

Missing "-" in readme.md

Usage Example:

sudo ./amdgpu-pro-fans.sh s 80 That would set all of your fan speeds to 80 percent of their maximum speed. The argument works perfectly as of the current stable release.

sudo ./amdgpu-pro-fans.sh -----> "-" s 80

write error

Why am i getting this on Ubuntu 18.04
echo: write error: Invalid argument

Error: Unable To Determine Maximum Fan Speed For Card0!

so i have been using this on my other rx580 with no problems. tried setting fan speeds on a system with 2 r9 295x2 and i keep getting the following errors.

head: cannot open '/sys/class/drm/card0/device/hwmon/hwmon0/pwm1_max' for reading: No such file or directory
./amdgpu-pro-fans.sh: line 58: [: -gt: unary operator expected

./amdgpu-pro-fans.sh: line 58: [: -gt: unary operator expected

the r9 295x2 are oem water cooled cards with a fan on radiator and a vrm fan. i someone could help i would be very grateful

Set fan speed per GPU

Add feature to allow setting of setting each GPU's fan speed independently.
(Some GPUs run hotter than others :) )
