wget not found in self-install prevents the self-install in W8.1

I needed to comment out lines call wget ... and it's errorlevel analysis.

Runtime Error when selecting Custom location for JDK path

On Win8 x64 with jre-8u40-windows-x64.exe installed in C:\Java, the installer does not find JDK path.

Later, it asks for JDK path with radio selector, and offers a single Custom location choice. After selecting, it reports Runtime Error (at 28:617): Out Of Range.

I am having the same issue described here:

I've installed JDK/JRE in a custom location, updated my system's environment's %PATH% to include it in the list, rebooted, confirmed that jdb starts up.

But I still get the same error, and the log files look similar to that older issue (which should have been fixed already?).

Is there a fix or workaround? I'd like to stick with Leiningen, as I'm already using it on my MacBook Pro and under Linux.
