glypher's Issues

Imperfect glyph is not recognized

One way to draw it:

Another way to draw it:
image

The trick is, drawing it in a line such that the lower left and upper right are connected twice, once touching the point in the middle, and a second time when they aren't.
I have a video of another way to draw it if you would like.

Current glyph not re-showing name after incorrect entry

v1.07-beta-2

  1. Glyph name pops up on screen.
  2. I incorrectly draw another valid glyph, or just get it wrong.
  3. It shows me the name of the glyph I just drew (if I drew something else right), or "unknown glyph".
4, Does not clear the incorrectly drawn glyph name and re-show me the name of the glyph I'm supposed to draw. It just expects me to remember.

My memory is horrible, so I actually end up forgetting what I was supposed to draw in the first place.

Error with drawing IMPERFECT sequence

Hello there!
Your program for traineer is perfect but I found a issue. I tried several times to drawing Imperfect sequencie and it always says [unknow Glyph] and no passing to next Glyph.
Can you check that issue? Thanks!

iOS port

Hi!

Would you mind creating a port to iOS for the newcomers on iPhones etc?
(I would - of course - be willing to pay for an app like that in the AppStore.)

Thank you for your consideration!

Mistranslated “Struggle”

The word Struggle is incorrectly translated as the glyph 5–0–6–1–7 (also known as Avoid), while it should be translated as 6–9–0–10–3–8 (also known as Resistance).

Timer still up after switching

Recreate steps:

  1. go into sequence mode
  2. wait for sequence example to finish
  3. switch to any other mode
  4. timer still shows up counting down at the top

Not a big issue, just a noticeable issue

Enhancement: Extended Sequence Simulation

Sequence Simulation is a great new feature!
To further improve it would be nice to have presets that behave like specific portal levels, in terms of number of glyphs and time limit (Also a random level option could be cool here).

Crashes upon starting the app

I just installed an update from the play store and the app doesn't open anymore, it crashes everytime. Using Nexus 4 stock rom 4.4 kitkat. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, same thing happens.

Feature Request - Allow custom order.

I'd like to select from a list of the glyphs which ones to train with and exclude the others. This way I can just repeat 3-4 of my own choice over and over till I learn them well enough then add in more at my own pace. Slowly building up my 'vocabulary'.

It makes the app more like interactive flash cards. Using this feature/setting would not keep scores or anything. As such it wont interfere with the planned leader board.

As a new player having 100+ glyphs all in a random order is too much I think and it hurts the brainsss! Ta

Glyph phone lock screen

you're the only people I know that could do this. Basically the android Pattern lock screen but instead of the 9 dots, the user must unlock their phone with a glyph using the hexagonal glyph template.

Feature request: track guesses and show difficult glyphs more often

First of all, thanks for the wonderful application. Having spent a few evenings with it, I get quite reliable bonuses, in contrast with when the mini-game was launched. Memorizing glyphs by meaning makes it very easy to remember the whole sequence.

However, there are a few glyphs that are more difficult to remember, I am sure most people have some of those. I imagine this is due to their asymmetry or lack of any mnemonic resemblance. Currently, glypher is not very efficient in learning those, as it does not differentiate between glyphs well reproduced and those for which people still make mistakes.

The app could track the success rate for each glyph, and assign more probability to showing those glyphs for which success rate is lower. There could also be a separate game mode, in which only the top 20 of least successful glyphs would be shown, to make sure these are memorized.

This feature would also come in handy when or if new glyphs are introduced.

Missing glyphs

The app does not recognize the following glyphs:

  • 0–6–3–9–0 (Victory)
  • 0–6–10–0–9–10–3 (N'zeer)
  • 0–10–8–4–5–9–10–3 (Interrupt)
  • 0–10–9–8–4 (Chase)
  • 1–6–10–8–9–4 (Reincarnate)
  • 1–7–10–8–5 (Worth)
  • 2–3–4–5–0–1–7–8–9–6–10 (Unbounded)
  • 2–7–6–1–0–5–9–8–4 (Legacy)
  • 2–7–10–6–0–9–10–8–4 (Perspective)
  • 5–9–0–6–9–8 (Mystery)
  • 7–3–8–7–6–10–9–8 (Presence)

Add more information on the Imperfect glyph

Upon using various tracing paths to complete the "Imperfect" glyph I am informed that my traced glyph is an "unknown glyph" and the app won't let me advance to the next upcoming glyph.

Feature request: complex mode

Hi, I'm finding glypher quite useful for learning glyphs but I'd like to improve my sequence speed. Please could you add an option to simulate what you'd get in the scanner after entering 'complex' (much faster glyphs and only one screen flash)? Thanks!

Multiple new glyphs

Looks like this project is dead- there have been a few waves of new glyphs since 2015 that aren't added. Star, shield, link, key, field, etc. Any chance these will be added or the source code will be published?

Open the source

I'd love to fork and help contribute. Open it for all of us?

app uses glyphs that never actually appear in the game

App shows many glyphs that never actually appear in game. Begin? Worth? Interrupt? http://www.ingress.tv/glyphs.html has a comprehensive list of glyphs and glyph sentences actually used in the game. Can we get rid of the fake glyphs? Or at least have an option to turn them off? (worth bugs me the most, it's not even stylistically in line with the other glyphs. No glyph looks like a letter related to its name!)

Feature Request: New Training Mode Suggestion

Suggest creating a new training mode to help learn the glyph "language". Show complementary pairs of glyphs side by side in order to help learners lock in glyphs and meanings. Examples:
Attack & Defend; Create & Destroy; Less & More; Truth & Lie; Gain & Lose; Pure & Impure; Past, Present, & Future; Soul & Mind; Before & After, etc.

Learn what I learn

I think in the mode that is the sequence simulation, that it should maintain statistics on which glyphs I get and focus on sequences with the lowest completed scores.

Improvement Suggestion: Bigger Dots

Compared to orginal Ingress glyphhack, Glypher's glyphs are harder to draw (more often dot don't light up)
1 2
Both created with same finger movement. My suggestion is to make dots slightly bigger.

Some settings only applicable on restart

When changing "show glyph before drawing", "First reminder is a hint" or "New glyph on failure" the changes aren't applied until the app is restarted (in Single random glyph mode)
At least changing it or skipping to the next glyph didn't do the trick and there seems to be no other option to get it applied.
