The official repo for a project involving a crowdsourced DFIR book. The main purpose of this book is to give anyone interested an opportunity to write a chapter of a book to get their name out there, get a publication on their resume with an actual ISBN number, and ideally lower the bar for people to contribute something back to the DFIR Community. Want to write a chapter? Let me know and let's make it happen!

The Hitchhikers Guide to DFIR: Experiences From Beginners and Experts

Check out the book on Leanpub and Bookwire (PDF and ePub).

What is this?

A DFIR book:

  1. Being written on GitHub
  2. Being edited on GitHub
  3. Being self published through Leanpub
  4. Being written by multiple co-authors collaboratively

Why?

This is a proof of concept and a great first step for providing a different method of knowledge sharing within the DFIR space.

When will it be done?

Version 1.0 went live on August 15, 2022!

From the beginning, the writing and editing process has been fully transparent to the public! Check out the Milestones to see where we're at. Stay tuned!
