Sidebar in Marvel design is called: Water and Solar Installations
Our partners want to call it "Where We Work"
The totals are still based on all communities, even those without stories, even though only communities with stories are shown in the sidebar.
right now it sometimes feels too fast, sometimes too slow.
Legend on the right side of the navigation bar
During the count animation you can get some small jumps in the layout if the numbers are wider than final numbers e.g. 118 --> 111
When clicking a nationality and then a community, show the top bar with navigation breadcrumbs so people can go back
The communities on the map which have stories should have a different icon (a yellow star at the moment) to indicate that there is something more there.
When the sidebar feature is implemented, our partners have asked that initially only the communities that are the special ones with blogs etc. be made clickable, and appear in the sidebar.
This is because they have not finished adding the descriptions and photos for all the communities and want it to be consistent.
They'll add the other descriptions in time to the air table and when they are ready they will let us know in order to change this.
Is it possible to have the view that appears when you first open the map further zoomed in. Perhaps something resembling this image? On our parters page it appears fully zoomed out initially, and they would like the initial view something easy to click on the areas from (https://www.amazonfrontlines.org/maps/).
We are getting hit by bug mapbox/mapbox-gl-js#6074 in queryRenderFeatures()
which is causing errors with clicking/hovering community points. An update to 0.44.1 should fix this bug.
When map is first opened / viewed its bounds should be: N:1.06, E:-73.3, S:-2.1, W:-80.55. I don't quite undersand how the bounds work with the zoom still - so if this isn't correct Gregor pleae let me know.
Also our partners want the satellite image to still be in the background when map is opened. I'm pretty sure Gregor said that this then would be something that he and karissa would make work, rather than a fix in the mapbox style.
Have english and spanish versions of the history available. This should be done by having a url parameter that specifies the language (for embedding).
There used to be Kichwa communities on the map but they have all been taken out. The Kichwa territory still needs to be removed from the map legend.
If you are zoomed in, and then click on a community, it zooms you out to the level of the area when showing the popup. Can the popup (future sidepanel) just be displayed without changing the zoom level.
Should open up the sidebar for that community only if that community has a story.
Right now, when you click on a community, the navbar shows
MAP OVERVIEW / [COMMUNITY NAME]
but it should show
MAP OVERVIEW / [AREA NAME] / [COMMUNITY NAME]
the stories are still using the old icon (house with a plus) rather than the star which is in the design
right now it shifts to two lines, should maybe remote text and just have icon + number
Want to try and get the ampliaciones linked to the titled area so that they click together but have differently shaded fills
The legend is currently in Spanish on the English version of the map (no longer, but only a temporary fix see below)
Seems like one of the areas is spelled differently in the airtable vs. areas.json...
- "name": "Sinangoe"
+ "name": "Sinangue"
where is areas.json coming from? Can we simply change it in the git? Which one is the right name?
Amazon Frontlines and the Ceibo Alliance work on concrete initiatives with over 60 communities from the Siona, Secoya, Kofan and Waorani indigenous Nations in Ecuador, Peru and Colombia. Explore the Where We Work map to learn more about the past and present of these indigenous communities. Make sure to check out Communities with Stories to watch films or read first-hand accounts of our work with these communities, from clean water and solar energy, to territorial defense and cultural revival.
Community popups - two examples
Once the map has been updated with stars to indicate the communities with stories ensure the legend is also updated.
When mousing over communities and areas, highlight the corresponding items on the sidebar as well as on the map.
Translate the sidebar for ?lang=[en,es] parameter
We changed this in the airtable nationalities tab, but it broke the map because there are many other files that depend on the spelling in the code. Change all the linked code so that the name can be changed.
right now it wraps to two lines but the layout is off
If you click on areas made up of multiple shapes it zooms you to just one shape, not to whole area. This requires figuring out which group the shape is connected to
There are some slight differences in the implemented version vs. the designs regarding the color and size of some text, positioning of elements, and the water/solar icons.
Our partners have changed the main colours used on their site.
Please change the colour that appears at the top of the sidebar, currently a dark-sea-blue to #2f604a a dark green.
The refactor in React does not include Spanish translations. Need to add.
'At any point you click on the home button and it takes you back to main website with map in the window'
Where should the home button be located?
For AC: Load the maps in Spanish with this font, like now.
Also our partners want the satellite image to still be in the background when map is opened. I'm pretty sure Gregor said that this then would be something that he and karissa would make work, rather than a fix in the mapbox style.
The full screen button seems to be working in this version of the map:
http://lab.digital-democracy.org/alianza-ceibo-maps/#8.3/0.006/-76.7122
but does not seem to work when embedded in the Alianza Ceibo test website:
At the moment there is a little popup that appears hovers when the mouse moves over areas in the map. when you move off the edge of an area it remains there, it should disappear when the mouse is no longer hovering over the area.
There are spaces missing in the following places:
In the second half, between each of the nationality names and the word territorio
eg. Secoyaterritorio
In the initial sidebar, underneath the listing of each nationality where it talks about the number of installations
eg. 169INSTALLATIONS
You should be able to zoom in or zoom out using the mouse scroll, even when you're hovering over a popup. Should popups be disabled when zoom is enabled?
