keeps growing the defaultPackages list. It seems unclear exactly when the R init sequence will be executed. I found this problem by running devtools::document().

Same issue for the addCallBackTask for the prompt. A temporary fix is in the code, but I need to think about a permanent one.

Check which CRAN sites are closest. Update Reviron or Rprofile.site to seet as the default.

Needs more research - do user defined functions get removed when the global environment is cleared from RStudio. Use a new environment or hidden?

mk_r_sym_links.sh has
dir=pwd for the first line code. This should be updated to $BASH_SOURCE. Low priority.

Figure out License type for this project - Creative Commons, but can that apply to code?

My prompt string includes a '\n' at the end of it. R displays it correctly and RStudio Version 0.99.467 doesn't.
