Custom Splash Screen for Raspberry Pi (Raspbian or ChromePi)

This is a quick and dirty solution for an unanimated custom splash screen during boot.

1. Update you Raspberry Pi with the latest update
   • sudo apt-get -y update
   • sudo apt-get -y upgrade
2. Install fbi which can show image in full screen in console mode.
• apt-get install -y fbi
3. Copy your custom splash image to /home/pi and name it "splash.png".
4. Copy asplashscreen script to "/etc/init.d" folder
5. Make the script executable and create a service for init mode so that asplashscreen will run at boot
• chmod a+x /etc/init.d/asplashscreen
• insserv /etc/init.d/asplashscreen
6. Edit cmdline.txt file in /boot folder
• Remove "console=tty1"
• Add "loglevel=3 logo.nologo" at the end of the line

so now your line will look like this below:-
"dwc_otg.lpm_enable=0 console=ttyAMA0,115200 kgdboc=ttyAMA0,115200 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rootfstype=ext4 elevator=deadline rootwait loglevel=3 logo.nologo"


7. Reboot and watch your custom splash screen come to action.
