It often happens that a string (or unicode) is available as a value before it becomes a date or time. It would be nice of DateTime recognized a string as a date (or datetime) and converted it on the fly.

Implement to_date() method that returns a date from the _current_dt.

Add a decrement() method to the DateTime class. It works the same as increment but in reverse. The method would save the user some time whenever reversing a datetime is required.

This combines #2, #3, and #6 so that we deal with the __init__ all at once.

Implement from_date() method on DateTime. Or modify __init__ to accept date objects?

Implement is_same(self, dt, precision=None) to compare _current_dt with the given datetime at runtime. If precision is given, it should be one of seconds, minutes, hours, or days which controls what level of matching is used.

Implement in_quarter(quarter=None) method to see if the _current_dt is in the current quarter or within the given quarter if supplied as an argument.
